Dr Oz Fat Busting Brownies Recipe

Fat Busting Brownie Recipe on Dr Oz Show

Today I was watching the Dr Oz show and it was about how to shrink your "derriere" using his butt diet plan.  Well, I love to watch the Dr Oz and he often shares recipes from various nutritionists, chefs, celebrities and more.  He only shares recipes that are nutritious as well as helpful in weight control or weight loss.  When they did a segment featuring a recipe called "fat busting brownies" I quickly had to hit the record button on my DVR to capture the recipe so I could try these brownies as well as share it with everyone!

Brownies are one of my biggest weaknesses that I lay partial blame on my mother!  I think I'm not alone on this, who can forget the aroma of freshly baked brownies filling the entire household.  I remember coming inside after a long day outdoors to the wonderful smell of brownies enticing my senses!  Usually she would save the brownie batter for me to lick clean! However, I am an adult now and just the smell of brownies seem to make my pants suddenly tighter!  I wish I could enjoy brownies like I could when I was younger but I'm coming to terms with the fact that I can't.  Or can it?  Dr Oz's Fat Busting Brownie Recipe may be the answer that I was looking for and a dream come true!  Here is the recipe that he shared on today's show.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Fat Busting Brownie Recipe :

Ingredients :
  • 1 cup of raw cacao powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne (cayenne boosts your metabolism!)
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of low fat milk
  • 1 cup of organic raisins
  • 1 cup of oats

Directions :

Mix all the ingredients above while setting the oats aside.  Add in the oats to the mixture last and blend.  Shape into brownie squares. Place the brownie mixture in the fridge.  No baking is needed to make these fat busting brownies!  Dr Oz said to take these brownies like you would medication twice a day! I think I can do that!!!!!  Have one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Dr Oz, Manicotti Makeover Recipe, Low Calorie

Dr Oz Manicotti Recipe

Dr Oz Manicotti Makover - Less Than Half The Calories As Traditional Versions!

Oh, Italian food is my weakness, and Manicotti just may be my favorite Italian dish!  My problem with Italian food is that my pants always become too tight a day or two after eating Italian.   Too many carbs?  Do I get bloated?  Probably a little bit of both I reckon.  Listed below is the Manicotti Makeover recipe that was shared on Dr Oz.

Check this out...  A TRADITIONAL Manicotti recipe contains 904 calories!  No wonder, why my pants always felt tighter a day or two after Manicotti (or Italian food in general).  Heck, I probably always had two servings worth too, so would that up that number to around 1,800? Whoa!  Well, this recipe shared by Lynette on today's Dr Oz only has 404 calories!  Huge difference.  Lynette said that one of her secrets to this recipe is swapping in traditional pasta for whole grain pasta.  Also check out the calorie cutting lean bean enchilada recipe, and the calorie cutting chicken fried steak recipe shared on the same Dr Oz episode.

Manicotti Makeover Recipe Share by Lynette on the Dr Oz Show

Ingredients :

15 oz part-skim ricotta
4 oz part-skim mozzarella
1 egg
3 Tbsp parmesan
6 oz low-fat Greek yogurt (gives creamy texture for less calories and fat)
½ tsp black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder ( I may up this ratio a bit because I love garlic!!)
½ C Italian parsley
2 red peppers
2 zucchini
1 large eggplant
1 C chopped spinach

Manicotti Preparation and Directions

Combine Greek yogurt and part skim Mozzarella cheese.
Combine rest of the ingredients
Roll and fill the noodles
Use whole wheat lasagna noodles rather than traditional pasta noodles
Put filling into a plastic bag and squeeze the cheese mixture into the whole wheat lasagna noodles
Roll up the whole wheat lasagna noodles and place into a baking dish
Add jar sauce to top

I am really looking forward to trying this recipe.  To think that I can enjoy Manicotti with less than half the calories of traditional recipes really has me excited.  Here I was beginning to think that I was going to have to ban all Italian food out of my life before I blew up like a blimp and floated away!  Not to mention I can't afford to by a whole new wardrobe of clothes.  I have plenty of clothes in my wardrobe that I can fit into if I lose weight!  It would be like a getting brand new clothes actually since it has been so long since I have fit into them!

Dr Oz Chickpea Popcorn Recipe, Snack and Chick Peas To Curb Cravings

Chick Pea Popcorn Recipe Dr Oz, Chickpea Popcorn Recipe, Dr Oz

Dr Oz Chickpea Popcorn Recipe

Today Dr. Oz did an episode called "Dr Oz Approved Crash Diet" and talked about how you can lose 10 pounds in a week.  During one particular segment of the show Dr Oz invited a woman to the stage who lost 220 pounds on this diet and she looked absolutely amazing.  Truly looked like two different women.  Dr Oz asked her how she lost her weight.  She said that she always used to get cravings for salty foods which triggered her bad food choices.  This Chickpea Popcorn recipe is what she snacks on that helps to curb her cravings and was a key recipe in helping her lose her weight.  Also check out the bean brownie and banana recipes that were on today's Dr Oz show.

I have listed the Chickpea Popcorn recipe below.  It looks so simple and easy to make, I think I'm going to go to the grocery store after making this post just to get some chickpeas!  I'm being serious.  Not changing close, not getting ready, I'm heading straight to the store to get all the ingredients.  I especially like it because of it's simplicity.  Simply mix the ingredients together and bake!  Simple as that..

Chickpea Popcorn Recipe

Ingredients :

  • 15 Oz chick peas
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • Pinch of pepper
Directions :

Okay, you ready for these long drawn out directions? Mix the ingredients and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Easy enough?  I can really imagine how this would be a great healthy snack for when you are craving salty foods.  She mentioned that she rinses her chickpeas.  I love chick peas but I've used to choose "salted" chickpeas, so make sure you get them without salt or rinse them if your trying to curb salt cravings and lose weight.  Salt just retains water and will make you look and feel bloated anyway ;)  Let me know if you try this recipe and let us know what you think.  If you like to snack while watching tv, this looks like a healthy alternative to salted (and buttered) popcorn and snacks of that sort.

Jennifer Hudson Recipes Shared on Dr Oz

Jennifer Hudson Vegetable Lasagne Recipe, PancakesJennifer Hudson's life was forever changed the moment that she appeared on American Idol.  She is a pop music diva, won an Oscar award for her role in Dreamgirls, and soon after she won a Grammy Award!  If you haven't turned on a television in the past year or so you may not even recognize Jennifer Hudson anymore!  She joined Weight Watchers and went from a size 16 to a size 6.  What were the secret's behind Jennifer's weight loss success?  Today, Dr Oz recapped an episode that featured Jennifer Hudson share her diet secrets and her favorite recipes.  Jennifer attributes her Pasta Free Lasagna recipe as well as her sweet potato fries as a key ingredient to her diet plan.  She said that you have to enjoy the food that your eating if you have realistic hopes of staying on the diet long term.

Jennifer Hudson's Vegetable Lasagna Recipe.

Jennifer said that you have to want to lose the weight to be successful.  You have to do it for yourself.  Trying to reach somebody else's goals won't work for you.

One of Jennifer's diet secret's that helped her lose all of her weight was her Pasta Free Lasagna recipe.  What is so special about her lasagne?  Instead of using high carbohydrate noodles as the base ingredient, Jennifer swaps in zucchini and eggplant.  She layers the lasagna as you normally would with noodles, but uses layers of eggplant and zucchini.  She said that this recipe is every bit as tasty as regular lasagna but has less than half the fat and calories.  So, when you take out the "guilt factor" it's even better!

Does Jennifer Hudson Snack?

Jennifer told Dr Oz that she has her "cheat days" occasionally.  She allows herself to enjoy her favorite ice cream occasionally, but she doesn't let that ruin her new healthy lifestyle.  She doesn't let the Occasional "cheat day" lead her down the wrong path.  She just jumps back on to her healthy eating style and doesn't look back.

Jennifer Hudson's Pancake Recipe

Jennifer admitted to Dr Oz that she loves to eat pancakes for breakfast. Who doesn't right?  However, nowadays it's all about portion control for her.  She just eats smaller sized pancakes.

Jennifer Hudson's Sweet Potato Fries Recipe

A delicious treat that Jennifer enjoys is sweet potato fries.  Instead of french fries, substitute in sweet potato fries instead.  Make sure that you bake the sweet potato fries instead of frying them!
